If you vigorously boil tap water, is it okay to drink?

Maybe not? Maybe she finds the AC water tastes better because it has lots of 'body' to it............ Maybe she has cast iron innards, among other attributes.

And no, it isn't something I would drink either. Whatever next?

Ozama River water :lick:

canadian bob, we clean the outside of the bottle and remove the plastic, too, for the same reason. Who knows what is on these bottles.

Ladybird, that tray under the coils of your A/C air handler (the thing hanging on your wall that blows cool air back into the room) collects the condensation water from the process. The tray has a small outlet that should go into a water line, or a hose, and drain to the outside.

If this is the water you want to drink, you are really taking a risk. Most A.C. air handlers are incredibly filthy. Think about it - this unit just recirculates all air from the room, blows it through some tubes that are cooler, and then shoots the air right back into the room.

Anything in your air can lodge in this unit, grow like a science experiment, and then you want to drink the water that drips off of this crud? If you collect the water from the drain tube, try this - cut the hose open and see what it looks like INSIDE, it's usually also loaded with gunk. Sounds like drinking out of a creek somewhere downstream from a cow pasture to me.

Use it for your plants, not for drinking.

Thank you Carlos, I use it for boiling and cooking as I think Canadian Bob is right about the safety of the bottled water. I compared the two and the condensed seems and tasted cleaner. The ac and the hose are new so it is all clean, at last I know where the condensed water is coming from, who knows about the bottled water. Sometimes it doesnt taste right.

I'm amazed that you still believe that water condensed by your A/C unit is safer to drink than bottled water. I sincerely hope you are not on a dangerous path.
I drink a lot of bottled water and have never had problems in 20 years.
(But on the other hand I do have a cast-iron stomach!)
Re my post about chlorine and cancer, I can't find the reference, so I'll retract it. There are ultraviolet radiation type water purifiers, which may be the best, perhaps some other posters can clarify (sorry for the pun) this.
It is unlikely and sad that there are any "pure" water springs or wells left in the DR. as the aquifers are (likely) to be polluted, but look at Europe, where "pure" water is so scarce that wine is the best option. I'd be interested to learn where DR beer companies get their water from. Even Cruise Ships generate all their drinking water using desalination techniques. Canadian Bob.

There seems to be much debate about whether or not clorine in drinking water is a good thing. As for me I'd rather not take the chance for my loved ones.
Water Contamination and Clorine - Health and Fitness - Healthy Water

Thanks for this reference AZ!.... In a nutshell;
According to the US Council of Environmental Quality "Cancer risk among people using chlorinated water is as much as 93% higher than those whose water does not contain chlorine" Canadian Bob.

My father-in-law's watchman says that toilet bowl water should always be mixed 50/50 with yuca squeezin's and a dash of lime juice, to ensure both potability and flavor... . He also says the flushing makes no difference at all.

I just brought a bottle of water, taken from a 5 gal. bottle, back to the US for testing.....the lab tech said not to bother after 30 hours in a bottle, anythink is dead and not detectable.
