I will stipulate to what the law is.
I will also stipulate to how 🇩🇴 DRGOV is going to enforce the law.

Even if they enforce the current laws to the letter, resources are not unlimited. As they focus on the illegal immigrants that are considered the highest priority. It will allow others not in the highest priority group to prepare.

I am aware of two instances where the government announced special programs for particular groups to regularize their immigration status.
Who says that they will not to that with other groups also❓
I do not know because I am just speculating.

Like many others posting up in here.

But yet he Windeguy writes a response to me that says:

Not a single word about (Haitians, Venezuelans, Colombians, etc.) all who currently pay the exit fees to depart. And we still have post #65 sitting like a elephant in the room (ignored by Windeguy) while he continue rage at the machine. Or at least everyone else here on DR1 that disagrees with him.
Post #65 is simply another anecdotal post by someone that chooses to remain for illegal periods of time in the DR>
No elephant in the room, just yet another person who does not care about the laws and will get away with what they are allowed to do.

So far. There is a new government now.

Yes, I agree there are priorities here. Those that employ, house or transport illegals appear to be a priority as well as the illegals that work here are at the top of the list.

I do not know because I am just speculating.
When the previous government did the regularization program it was for Haitians and other illegals from various countries, they indicated it was not going to be repeated. That was the PLD, now we have the PRM, so they could do that again. I suspect not, but then they are doing one for Venezuelans and I am surprised by that.

Like many others posting up in here.

I am only stating that the PRM promised to enforce the law as written. Maybe they will.

Am I profiting from my present country? I suppose, since it is much less expensive to live here than my home country.

Are you illegal where you are (and where is that, Vegas)?
And there we have it‼️The 1 million dollar question that you have been dying to ask.
I am illegal everywhere I go.

It is not.‼️
In my opinion, it is not your objective to inform. Oh, you repeat the letter of the law "mucho". But, you also opinionate a lot about the issue.
If you point was to inform you would post the information and then let it go.
What is your issue with those who have not "run the residency gauntlet"❓
I would let it go if people did not think the law didn't matter. I try to point out that it does matter, at least from time to time.

Actually, I never thought to ask it until you suggested it. It was never on my mind at all until just now.

But a law unenforced IS a law that does not matter.
You are speculating that the new DRGOV is going to do what they said they are going to do.
I do not know❓
I know you are hoping in your heart of hearts that someday you will read that a person from North America or the EU got deported.
But when I agree with you and stipulate to the law and what the DRGOV has said and you still have a issue with me...
That is where it stopped being about illegal immigration and started being about you.
Proving my point that I have been making all along.
Those who have run the residency gauntlet verses those who have not. Those who have run the gauntlet have a real axe to grind.🪓

I hate gambling (on anything but myself). Really, I despise games of chance because I have the knowledge to understand the odds. I hate Las Vegas and the Casinos for that reason. That knowledge of the odds is the power to keep my money. Being able to roll a hard six at will... well, thinking one can do that on demand is delusional. Being proud to be illegal? Only time will tell on that.

There is a new government and I did not ever post that I expect them to do everything they say they will.
I have no idea if they will ever enforce the laws as written. At least they put that in the news.

If you agreed about immigration laws, then I missed your point.

I never said that the government will do all of what they say they will do.

Let us give them some time to see what happens over the next month or two. This is the land of manana.

I overstayed twice last year, once for 95 days and most recently for 60 days. The immigration clerk didn't blink upon entry on the most recent trip. We'll see what the future entails. It's better to be legal as it's a gamble otherwise and exposes you to legal and monetary consequences. A friend of mine just returned a month ago after overstaying for two years. No issues upon entry other than a vigorous inspection from customs.

His take on the issue is he'll just take his money to Colombia if the Dom Rep doesn't want him. Life is a risk...

Here is question I would pose to the new government of the PRM a question I asked for years of the previous government. ( You won't find many of those posts now because many thousands of my posts were accidentally deleted from several years ago backwards in time.)

You have proposed a regularization plan for Venezuelans, why can you not come up with a comprehensive 6 month snowbird visa which makes vacationing for 6 months without any legal issues?

Well then if you know odds you know that with skill Blackjack can be played in a way that can even or give a slight advantage to the player. I don't know you so I do not know if gambling on you is a sucker bet or not.:ROFLMAO:
I hate Las Vegas and the Casinos for that reason.
Hate is a very strong word. There are many more industries in Las Vegas than you seem to have knowledge of. You do know there are Casinos in Santo Domingo and the greater 🇩🇴 ❓ Do you hate DR as well❓I am sure if Las Vegas was a person they would care less about what you think of the place. As do I. :ROFLMAO:
That knowledge of the odds is the power to keep my money. Being able to roll a hard six at will... well, thinking one can do that on demand is delusional.
Wow, you have not only a laser like focus on illegal immigration you also cannot take joke or ribbing. You actually think I can roll a hard six at will❓
Being proud to be illegal?
I know you need to brag about your residency status. Mr. Citizen of the Dominican Republic.
But I don't.
You want to know about my immigration status in the 🇩🇴❓
Send me a PM and I will tell you.
I have no need to pull mine out to compare it to yours, my DR1 brother.:ROFLMAO:
But tell me, you have to goto the Embassy or DR consulate to apply right?
Then they have you come back to have your visa printed in your passport.
Then you present your papers to DGM here in the Dominican Republic...ect, ect, ect. Am I close❓
There is a new government and I did not ever post that I expect them to do everything they say they will.
I have no idea if they will ever enforce the laws as written. At least they put that in the news.
So what have you said❓ Because this statement ⬆️ looks like a MJ moonwalk‼️

I am not taking issue with the laws as written.
Right now there is a disconnect between what has been said and what is being done.
Are you going to tell me that is not true right now❓
Are you going to tell me that you know the future and what the DRGOV is going to do in the future❓
Or will you repeat yet again what they said they are going to do❓

You are not close at all. Not even for horseshoes and hand grenades. I received my first legal residency in 2002, moved to the DR in 2003. At the time I was able to apply while in the DR (the process is different today and clearly stated on the Migracion web site). I went home after I submitted my residency paperwork and made my arrangements to move permanently to the DR and only sold my house after I found out my residency was approved. THen I moved here in 2003. I am now a naturalized DR citizen.

So what have you said❓ Because this statement ⬆️ looks like a MJ moonwalk‼️

There has been a disconnect in how the laws are written and executed everywhere I have lived. The DR is no different.
I am only stating the the PRM has said it will enforce the laws as written. Yes, I will say that again, and again into infinity and beyond.
It is not personal for me , by the way. Although you might think so. I don't give a flying fark what happens to people that I don't know.

Well that is curious as that is the process I went through, you know the one on the Migracion. I gave you the cliff notes version. If you are going to talk about what is on the Migracion web site. You should read it first. You are first required to get a residency visa which means starting the process in your country of origin. I was not talking about processes that occurred in the dark ages of time. I am talking recent history.

You are very passionate about those illegal in the country of the 🇩🇴. For a person to not care what happens to people you do not know.

2002 was a long time ago when it comes to the Migracion residency details. It was not the same when I did it. It should come as no surprise that the process changed over 19 years.

I have read what it takes now to get residency and described that very process to a few illegals that I know who are friends of mine who live here full time. They don't want to hear about it. What might happen to them in the future? I have no idea. They have made their bed and may not be sleeping in it in the future. And it is a VERY expensive bad, to be sure. At least 5 times what I have invested in the DR to date.

I am also passionate about illegals in my home country, but this is DR1, lets keep it local and not head off to Timbuktu or even Mali.

Are you saying that everyone who lives here should own a house, car and DR bank account? There are many Dominicans who don't have these assets. It doesn't mean they don't have money. As I get older, I plan to sell my house and start to rent in order to spend the value and not die with an un-needed asset, maybe sell my car if I don't feel I drive well enough. The money will remain in the Dominican economy. The bank account I'll probably keep but I believe there are many residents here who have never opened a DR account. Will they want to rescind my "Permanent" Residency in the future?

No, but the DR can choose who it decides it wants to come and live here as a migrant, just as every other country does. And clearly they aren't going to want a whole load more poor people to come and live here, there are quite enough poor people in the country as it is. So unless you have a few assets to show, I would presume it will get harder and harder to come and live here as they get more organised.

I always find it interesting how so many on this board feel this sense of entitlement to live here without any legal status and utter indignation at the thought that the authorities may require all foreigners to have a visa at some point.

But you are legally able to extend your stay to 120 days on a tourist card, takes about 60 seconds to do online. I really don't understand why anyone wouldn't do this. You then get a certificate from Migracion to show you are legally here.

I can certainly attest to the differences between 2002 and 2021. They are considerably more difficult now. yet I am told still much easier than many other places in the world.

You and me both, but let's see how it pans out with the PRM.
