Purchasing a BB gun in the DR requires a firearm's license. Believe it or not.

There are indeed BB guns in the DR. . You just need a firearms license to legally own one .
Correct. You cannot import one even with a license. But you can buy one here.

I had a friend with a Hilti-type nail gun who used it a couple of times to scare off people. Readily available, no license, not very accurate but definitely would slow a person down if they got hit.
You need to exercise a large amount of precaution if you have one. Don't let the neighbors see it.

A CO2 pellet rifle for more money than I spent on the last AR I bought. Shocking!
There is no such thing as a right to have a weapon here. Very costly and you essentially have to re-buy a handgun every year.
