I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy an iphone 16e soon. What does the board recommend as a US carrier, or all they mostly the same? I will keep my Dominican phone so this one would be for travel outside the DR, but I would get a permanent USA phone #.

Thanks

Rob

Could you not just use dual virtual sims in your new iPhone?

As for the carrier in the US, that would depend a bit upon your locations in the USA and what you needed it for.
Many options there as opposed to the DR. Some give you the phone for the fees they will collect over a year or two.

I just have DR Altice and it has worked for me to connect to WhatsApp and use my iPhone with GPS when driving.
But then, I am rarely in the USA,

I think its too expensive for what you get, with that money you can get a better android phone or even another older Iphone.

You can do the same thing and more for a fraction of the cost with an Android Phone.........

When I try to use an android I’m lost. I fear the learning curve enough to stay w/apple. Sucks.
I'm sure this goes both ways. From any Apple product to/from any PC/Windows/iPhone.

My boss's laptop recently broke, and they received a MacBook Pro. This far only used Windows. There were some swear words involved in the first few meetings...

Several years ago, I think it was Rubio Higuey (what happened to him?) posted about a lightning deal on Amazon for a dual sim android phone. I bought one to use in DR. I’ve owned iPhones going back to the 3. Omg I was like a 5 year old in a college classroom. It was awful. I finally figured out google play and just when I was starting to be semi-comfortable using it there was an incident near our house in campo and it was smashed. I can’t say I was very disappointed. I’ll never buy another one.

I know an older Dominican lady that could not read or write. My girlfriend at the time used an Android phone as I always did. I bought a inexpensive Android phone for the lady and my girlfriend taught her how to use it. She communicates on Whatsapp, Tik Tok, the usual things that Dominicans use with no problems. And she still can’t read or write. Really not that difficult. Android is Open Source, so a lot more apps than the locked apps on an Iphone………….

True, I was on old DOS user. I fought windows software tooth and nail. Owned a couple of windows laptops, always problems. Son badgered me to buy a MacBook. Bought first one in 2007, just to shut him up; took me awhile to adjust. I’ve bought nothing but Apple products since. I think I’m the typical one, I never hear of Apple users switching.

And I have an OnePlus 5 I bought back in 2017 that's still going strong.

I like it so much, I bought a couple of extras just in case mine get stolen.

Like apps? Get the Aptoid App. Not in the Play Store. Google it.......

My wife was gifted an iPhone 16 pro for Christmas from her son. Once she got used to it she loved. Takes great photos and does everything she wants it for. I am perfectly happy with my Samsung S21+5G.

Nice! Our son bought a 15 Pro for Mr AE for Christmas. My 12 ProMax is still going strong.

This phone I am posting with now is a Samsung (Android) J2 Core 16G memory with double SIM and mini SD card slot. I purchased three of them unlocked on Ebay for about $100 each back in 2022. Works like a charm. I'll never understand why anyone would spend 1, 2 or even $3,000 for a cell phone.
If it don't makes (cents) sense, it don't make dollars.

Do you still hang onto your raccoon coat too? You do know the newer ones are much faster with nicer screens and more connectivity ?
But at least your faithful - such good husband material for a woman looking for Neanderthal qualities.

I like my Samsung S21+. Had to replace the screen, which came with a new battery on recent trip to the US for $325. And the new screen is much clearer than the original.

I looked at new ones but I can't force myself to part with a grand a cellphone.

In a couple more years this one will likely be too old to satisfy and I'll upgrade.
I hate ti setup of a new one.
