Is a trip to Constanza a good idea?

Been looking through some older threads, and I get the impression that this is a quiet place without much going on except cool weather and nice views......and that's exactly why I want to go.

Is it do-able to get there by guagua from El Capital, and stay in a cheap but respectable enough hostel for a night or two? With a little kid? A lot of posters have talked about renting 4 x 4 s and things, but, is it possible on a shoestring budget with public transit?

Again, all I care about is cool temperatures and tranquility...if the town has even one comedor and one colmado, that's good enough for me. I live in SD, speak fluent Spanish and can handle roughing it a bit.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback y'all...and for going to the trouble of posting those awesome pictures Laura....I'm sold. I'll try to post a trip report or at least some tips for future travellers.
