The Central Electoral Board (JCE), through its Procurement and Contracts Committee, received proposals on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, for international public tender JCE-CCC-LPI-2024-0001 . This process aims to select the company or consortium that will provide equipment, materials, and services for the issuance of the new National Identity Card and Electoral Identity Card. The tender follows the guidelines of Procurement Law 340-06.

The companies are participating in the tender to choose the supplier of equipment, materials and services for the issuing of a new identification and voting cards for residents in the Dominican Republic. The contract is for RD$2.08 billion.

What I would like to see Driver License, Voter ID and Insurance card go into one ID card. That would eliminate fraud in DR.

How would that eliminate fraud by having it all combined on one card? All 3 have a different purpose.

What I don't really understand is why you are keen to bringing features or services to the DR that are not a thing even in 1st world countries? Aren't insurances usually from private companies - why would they want to be in a state-issued card?
