Last thing I heard, they haven't been renewing cedulas for months, waiting for the new ones. Does anyone know if they are issuing new ones now, as it looks like it will be a long time before the new ones appear?

It would be great if they extended the time for Drivers licenses and Residency cards too.

They are not issuing new ones now. Any that expired this year are still good. They said awhile ago that Oct. 26 they will issue the new ones. But I highly doubt that now...........

With an announcment that there is now a bidding process and procurement phase under wasy for new cedula machines, it will be a while before new ones are issued. Next year sometime?

Other cards have nothing to do wiht the cedula situation.

Can someone explain why there is a picture of a Nordic looking woman on communication material about the new cedula of the DR? I mean despite the obvious colorism issues we suffer from... could they at least portray someone who looks moderately meztizo?

Because Dominican women don't look that good probably? :) And the designer could not overcome his perfectionism.

I'm assuming you're adult? Let's behave as such. I come from a very long line of beautiful Dominican women. Don't be silly.

There are plenty of Dominican women in Jarabacoa that look totally Caucasian. I don't it is important for an example of the new cedula format, plus she probably has a dye job and straighten hair, lol.. Yes, plenty of beautiful Dominican women of all shades and colors.

You’re right, I’ve seen Dominican women who look like her, but it’s hardly the norm.

Plenty of beautiful women in Santiago who could pass for the one in the picture but obvisouly they are the minority.

I received my Cedular in the middle of September 2024. It doesn't match the photo above (no chip, no transparent window), but I am only a resident and can't vote.

That is because the photo is of the proposed new version of cedula and those machines are out for bids . New cedulas won't be available until after the procurment and installation of those new machines.
