If you chose the Blue Basic fare class, unless you pay for seat selection now, you would be assigned a seat on the day of travel. Note however that if you go online within 24 hours of travel, you can select a seat that might be available, exclusive of their More Space seats and Exit Rows. But this usually means a middle seat.I just booked a round trip flight with JetBlue in October for about $300 round trip. Once I selected the fair, they were nice enough to sell me a seat for another $13. There were no free seats available. I thought that type of pricing was made illegal years ago because of abuses by Spirit. If I chose not to pay the $13, do I have to stand in the back of the plane, or lie beneath the plane with the luggage?
Anyway, as far as flight reductions, I picked a random day mid January and there are 6 direct flights at a very low price, and 12 more flights with one stop at higher prices. I am not sure if that is a reduction in the number of flights from last year, nor do I know if some of those flights will be cancelled. The prices will most likely go higher as the time gets closer, so it would make sense to book now since $350 round trip is pretty good from JFK to SDQ.
They are running a sale good through tonight at 11:59 for travel during their low season 9/6-11/15.
