I for one think that ALL the airports in the DR have advanced quite a bit, since they started privatizing them. I have flown in/out of all of them. Used to dislike SDQ a lot, but I have to admit it's gotten a lot better. I flew out of LRM in January and liked it. Thought is was quick and organized. 95% of people there were tourists.

The biggest problem IMO is the confusion caused by the entry card that you need to fill out to present to the customs inspector. Why can't airlines give those out, before you get into the country (like they do for most other countries)? At a minimun they should have an area to get them and fill them out, with large signs clearly stating in several languages what the person is expected to do. You see tons of travelers come in and have no idea what they need to fill out. They then get on a line all the way to the inspector who sends them back to get a form and fill out...But wait where do you get those? hmmmm...well there are a few people walking around who have them...This process could be so easily re-engineered.

The other thing they need to do is get the Damm police, army or whatever out of the airport. These people have no business being there, and they give the country a "police state" image, which is the first impression tourists get. When will understand that things like this are not good for the country?

If I had a choice I would fly into STI every time, since it's small enough, quick and a lot closer to my destination than any other airport. PUJ is nice, but way too far from civilization for anyone (other than the tourists) to fly into.
I tend to agree with HB that STI will become the second busiest in no time (when it comes to Dominicans traveling back home). It may even become the first, if you consider that most Dominicans that travel back home are from the interior and a large chunk that travel to the Sto. Dgo. area could in fact fly into STI. PUJ and POP will always have their space with the tourists.

My biggest gripe altogether is that airlines don't have any flights to accomodate the business traveler (i.e. no real early flight to NY or Miami, or flights that leave about 7 PM for The DR). For instance the latest flight from JFK to SDQ leaves at 5:10 PM, making it impracticable for someone to put in a days work and then fly to The DR.

Regarding load factor

the planes are coming more than half full but are leaving kinda empty.......

The passangers are very happy with the service.........

great counter times and no hasle boarding.....although of course they don`t have much passengers leaving......
the plane takes about 156 pax..........

AA is arriving and departing FULL over 230 in each jfk flight........

continental is using their 757 to the max coming today full (around 180)

It will get better!

Its kind of obvious that they will be leaving empty for the next few days... Very little people from DR travel to the U.S. (Its the other way around, Dominicans in the US traveling to DR and coming back) so the people going to DR will probably start leaving next week filling up the planes better. Lets hope they can continue to increase the loads as people see that Jetblue is a good airline, although dominicans can be stubborn!

the amount of dominican who fly from here to USA is greater than Jet Blue's daily offer, the problem is that Jet Blue has no promo campaign, they don't sell here, nobody knows about Jet Blue here.

Mr Aviastar

There are a lot of people that come to the airport asking about this new airline booking flights and trying out the airline which is exactly what the airline wants.............

Please give time to the airline and the airport.... you won`t be dissapointed.....

PUJ is great for tourism...... try coming from NY to PUJ and going to your house in San Jose de las Matas...... Different market....... that why STI is here to cover the void.....

U seem to know a lot about what you write but seem negligent about STI and other services......... give everybody a chance

ONe Problem with STI

The only problem I see with the sti Airport is that the luggage belt is too small to handle the future load factors. A flight that comes in with over 150 pax will see some conjestion when it comes time to look for your luggage. They should have made the belts bigger.

what a great airline, to buy a ticket you have to fo to the airport! that's "nice"! :bunny:

Aviastar,

Your complains are not constructive and therefore useless. If you have any problems, you can always contact Jetblue and discuss it with them. Not only will it help you solve the problem but they may listen to you and do something about it.

Anyway, Jetblue works with travel agents (www.jetblue.com/travelagent ) and you can always book online (Jetblue.com) or contact them in spanish, 24 hours a day, at 888-751-2241 (in the Dominican Republic) and 800-JET-BLUE in the U.S.

for your information dominican passengers from DR do not buy tickets online, credit card issues, mentality, lack of electricity to connect the computer etc. Majority of people have no idea how to use the computer, another part do not speak english and they are unable to book online.

Travel agents do not like JB because of a simple reason, read this:

JetBlue Airways does not pay commissions to travel agents on travel sold throughout the United States.
All JetBlue fares must be sold as they are presented by JetBlue, at the exact price offered by JetBlue and containing any and all restrictions imposed by JetBlue.

So, tell me my dear friend, what is the reason for travel agent to sell Jet Blue? And what is the reason to fly on it if it is more exprensive and the schedule from SDQ seems to be a joke?>

For your information I have in New York a few dozen College educated Dominican friends that do use the computer and are smart. Its time to ener the 21st century!!!!

Travel Agents

Most travel agents charge customers a processing fee to make money. AA, CO and B6 (Jetblue) do NOT pay travel agents commissions anymore as of one or two years ago. :ermm: So for a travel agent it makes no difference...

is amazing how some people look at the Dominicans
they look at them as a person that still living in the middle age that does not know anything un puro burro what a shame that is like that.

WAS WRONG WITH JETBLUE? WHY THE ATTACKS ?

THEY ARE JUST TRING TO GIVE A BETTER SERVICE AND BETTER PRICES THAN AMERICAN AIRLINES. COMPETITION, SAFETY, GOOD FARES THATS WHAT THE DOMINICANS NEED. AND THAT IS WHAT JETBLUE WILL BRING TO SANTIAGO INTERNATIONAL.

As far as booking flights on the internet go, it is not JetBlue that needs to change their practice and mindset, rather it isthe Dominicans that must.

Nothing better than word-of-mouth advertising. Anyone who has flown JetBlue in the US knows what a quality airline they are. Other than Southwest, they are the only airline that has turned a profit in the last 3 years. They must be doing something right.

Profitability

It's my understanding, from an inside source, that one of the main reasons why Jet Blue has been so profitable these first three years is because they still haven't begun paying on the bulk of their aircraft leases with Airbus. Time will tell if they will be able to continue selling tickets at todays prices taking inflation and current oil prices into account.
