A friend from near Boston emailed that there was a riot at the JetBlue ticket counter in SDQ. I can't find any info down here but I see the airline isn't selling any seats this week on their nonstop from here to Boston. I just assumed they were sold out. Maybe something more serious? ?

does it have any connection with the weather? many flights were cancelled, maybe some people going to NYC or new jersey bought any other ticket available hoping to get alternative transport route home (car, bus)?

I speculate that there were a lot of people upset because they didn't want to take a drive home in all that snow.
I recall back in the days of Dominicana de Aviacion, the plane to Miami filled up in Caracas and did not bother to land atSDQ. There was a mini riot at the ticket counter. Those who had paid tickets got a ride to town and a room for the night. Out of maybe 40 people at the counter, there were just four of us paying customers. All the rest were with the airline or the government and flying free.

I came down on Wednesday (a day ahead of planned) and by all accounts made the right decision to beat the weather but that should have been long cleared up by now. I did read about some canceled Santiago flights but that shouldn't effect SDQ.

Hey peep. Airline travel in the states is a wreck right now. Tomorrow they will begin trying to sort it all out. When it warms a little bit.

Wow.........quick responses! Looks like the underlying problem was the new flight crew duty time limits that went into effect on the first of the year. The airline knew the change was coming but never factored in New England weather at the same time. So much for my plans to head back north this week.

The SDQ protest against jetBlue made the local news in NYC this morning. Quite a rowdy bunch and it looked like they couldn't wait to escape the lousy DR weather and get back to NY and go to the beach.

GOOGLE it your self next time DH!

Some people are too lazy to do anything themselves and then bitch because those that tried to help did not hand it to them on a silver platter.

Coming soon to a thread near you:

(1) Where can I buy a bottle of beer?
(2) Where's can I find asprin?
(3) I need a hooker, where should I look? (Do they deliver?)

I saw on the news lastnight that jet blue grounded their entire fleet for a day. This was due to the excessive amouts of cancellations from the weather. Plus the new government mandates about pilots work times grounded a lot of pilots and union contacts that limit union ground workers exposure to extreme cold. That's what the report said.
