Hi out there.

I am just looking around some sites for the Dominican.

We are going out at the middle of December first time to this country.

Does anyone have any idea what the area/resort is like.

We are bringing four small children is it safe ?

Is the food good ?

We are looking forward to going any hints or tips, and recomendations were to go and what to see.
Or where not to go.

regards Neil

Are there Jet skis etc for hire over and above the traditional water sports.

Take a look at www.debbiesdominicantravel.com for an extensive list of hotel reviews. I think you will find the type of info you are looking for there. Have a nice trip!

Re:Hotel Tropical Beach resort at Luperon

Neil,

Luperon is a lovely community of about 5,000 people approximately 25 kilometers west of Puerto Plata. It will take you about 45 minutes to an hour to get there from the airport. The hotel has undergone many shifts by different owners. Hotel Tropical Beach must be the latest owners. This resort is isolated from other hotels in Puerto Plata, but the resort offers many tours away from the resort. It is definately a family oriented resort. There is a sandy beach (man made) with two breakwaters. The water can get a little rough in the afternoon, but there are plenty of water sport activities (I'm not sure about the jet skis though with the new management). Go into the town and mingle with the locals. There are some good restaurants, discos, and bars in the town. No casinos, however. This location is laid back and definitely not for swinging singles. The townspeople are very friendly and quite a few foreigners have now moved into Luperon as well. Luperon is a excellent small harbor and you will find a large number of yachts anchored there. I can't recommend the hotel since I am not knowledgeable about the new owners, but I highly recommend the location and the town of Luperon.
