Just got my Cedula...Passport on the way!!!

ccarabella - I Live in miami, close to the d.r consulate, yea they dont seem to know everything. but what did you do i have everything ready, what did you do to get all that did you have to go to ny or you done it in the one in miami? i am leaving to d.r in just a few days but would like to know if i can also do the process there and just send i.d's and birthday certificate to my u.s address?

Miami will not do it. They will only assist in translating the birth certificate.
Yes, you do have to go to NYC in person, just once, to prove your identity and
with the documents & pictures.
If you are going to DR take your apostilled certificate and have your Dominican
parents birth certificate. I dont know if they'll send it to the US or perhaps the
Consulate but anyone in DR can retrieve your new Dominican birth certificate

Yea the miami consulate seems half way out of knowing what to do.. and ny, well thats like the second capital of d.r so i wouldnt doubt they have there things together. but thanks for the link and info. i most probably start in d.r and see how it goes from there, plus i would like to open a bank account there..
