He stated that several days after the fire that left thirteen dead in the La Victoria prison, He received a call from President Abinader to raise the issue of budgets for the operation of the new Las Parras prison.
Santana said that on that occasion he was able to clarify to the president that instead of the 1.6 billion that he had said were needed to finish it, it could be operational with just 288 million pesos.
He recalled that two years ago he made this budget aimed at immediate investment, but with the exception that the Ministry of Public Works had to build the access roads.
He said that by then the engineers completed the designs for the reorganization of the prison that would house the inmates found in the La Victoria prison and handed them over to the Attorney General's Office.
