from the surge in recent tours of land for sale there to hits on internet it seems that this coming year will be very good for anyone investing in Las Galeras, Dom Rep. Lots of requests from Canadians due to high dollar and land prices in U$ which has lost alot of ground to greenback over last year. see for yourself by doing image google search under "las galeras" and just see how many realtors there are now and how prices have increased.

Ouch. This is depressing. Tell me that it is not true.

Well, is it foreigner to foreigner transactions mainly, or are the locals getting ripped off? How are locals making out in this market Jasper?

Personally, I think Punta Cana is the place. More keg parties, and my favorite Starbucks. Whoosh............

Ciao, Sam

keep your starbucks, taco bells and keg parties in punta cana. las galeras looks like it will be nice and quiet and developed with sanity. mostly locals selling to foreigners and at seemingly fair market value.

real estate in Moca

Does anyone know of a website where I can view properties for sale or rent in Moca? Everything I see is for beachfront property, La capital, and Santiago.

www.rinconbay.com

this will only further establish it as a 5-star area. i guess this group is the hazoury group of aerodom and cap cana fame. anybody have any details of whom this group is? they must have most of the land behind playa rincon. looks like it's setup to sell as condos and not hotels??? why else the tease?

Jasper, how much land do you own and when do you expect to cash out. Best of luck with your investments.

Marcos, you probably will not find it. Here is what I have been advised to do. I like the Moca area also. Get a business card made up that says....Land, Solares Wanted. Phone number. Go through the area and talk to the people. Ask them if they know of any land for sale. Pass out your card. When you find something you like and know what they are asking then you offer them 33% to 40% less. There is a lot of land there and eventually someone will bite. I got this info. from a dominican guy who is in the business of buying and selling land. He was telling me that as an example if they were to ask for 1200RD per meter...I would offer 700RD and settle at about 800 or 900.
This was discussing land in Gurabo where two years ago the same land was going for 400RD. I wish you the best. Moca is beautiful country.

Regarding Samana....also incredible. To bad we live so far away and the mrs does not want to leave Santiago area.

Ricardo...well I haven't looked for about 8 months but there does not seem to be a lot to choose from. Did not see many for rent or for sale. However, my advice would be to go there and contact one attorney after another....attorney's have many of the listings...rentals and sells. Contact any of the Inversiones companies. There is a new area there in Moca with a lot of new homes and apartments. Sorry don't know the name. I did find a studio type set up in the heart of Moca near the big church. They wanted about 3000RD per month. This was about a year ago. If I see anything I will let you know.

we own lots of land and and several lots have already been sold. in absolutely no hurry to sell cheap. in fact being in Fortune magazine (see below) will raise the prices - if anything.

address at end of rinconbay link above looks to be same address as hazoury group in santo domingo. also Fortune article refers to same people that are doing the airport ard doing rinconbay project. i guess that they're going to capcanalize playa rincon which in my opinion is better than 8000 hotel rooms. would be good if someone called the number at end of site to do some investigation work. would appreciate it.

DR Special Advertising Section in Fortune
Fortune Magazine is circulating a Special Advertising Section on the Dominican Republic. Identifying the country as "the new Caribbean Chic," the publication is part of the Investment Series 2006 published by the magazine, and was sponsored by Dominican government and private company advertisers. The section starts with a piece on the new trend for the opening of boutique hotels, catering to the upscale tourist. The ten page supplement also provides an economic outlook, with a focus on DR-CAFTA, healthy telcom industries, and the economy in general. To download the report, go to http://www.timeinc.net/fortune/services/sections/fortune/intl.html

what's your point? that no exposure is better? as far as the white people remark, you should email hazoury group directly. site is owned and created by dominicans so i guess that they wish to appeal to a certain cross-section. frankly, white people on holiday in dominican is pretty much what you see except for locals who go to the beach for the day.
