He did lead you to believe that he was a part owner of the Jaragua hotel, though, are you saying that may have been true?

Nop, he never did. he said he was representing a group who were interested in buying the hotel.
he never said he owned the hotel, he has always maintained they were having some legal issues with the owners. then the new year came in and Christmas. So things went cold for a while.

I have phoned him but as expected, his cell is turned off.
i wonder what is the procedure of visiting someone in jail on weekends?
AZB
If he is down in the Santo Domingo area prisons AZB, sorry I can not help you there. Up here is not a problem because of our experience from previous 'innocents' being put in to jail!

The only GOOD bit of advice I can offer (apart from check the archives once you know which jail he is in) is "Make sure they change the glove before searching YOU!:paranoid:!".

Hey, I just had a thought!! Maybe as the flavour of important people interned at the moment is "Poor Health", you could verify his bad back problem & get him into a clinic for your administrations?

Good luck & keep us advised what you have to do when visiting S. D. jails ~ Grahame.

Nice gesture to want to visit him - I take it you know what to expect inside a Dominican jail :cheeky:? If you can't find out who his lawyer is the Swedish Consul might be able to help - he should know if one of his nationals is in jail: Honorary Consulate of Sweden, Pablo Casals No.4, Piantini, Santo Domingo Phone: +1 (809) 616 3000 Fax: +1 (809) 549 6112 Email: dominicana@consuladosueco.com

Perhaps he never did say he actually owned the hotel, but I can understand why Chiri might be confused. It sounded like he was an owner, or in the process of becoming an owner, in one of your posts, AZB.

I don't think you fully appreciate how cunning these con men can be. They are capable of creating the appearance of something being true without exactly stating it, but they are well aware of the impression they impart.

It's just my opinion, but I would caution against putting too much stock in how you were treated by this guy. I'm sure he has the same routine down pat for everyone he meets.

Well he claims to have bought it or is in the process of buying it. The hotel will go through 55 million dollar renovations. The casino maybe owned by someone else.

Now why would you want to visit a guy who you met once maybe twice, unless you became buddy buddy with. All that bs about being rich must have reeled you in good, but again I could be totally wrong and you saw right through him.;)

Mr Qureshi is a very nice person, treated me very well while staying in the capital, He could quite possibly be innocent of all these charges.

According to your read of this guy, its possible that if you had a few million bucks to spare he might have duped you too.

He was nothing but nice and covered the lunch bill.
I guess that's a mark of a good conman?

Let's not drag this out anymore and speculate on if he is legit or not.
I think his track record speaks for itself :)
