This young man was apparently murdered over an unpaid balance of 500 pesos.
This incident involved a cellphone battery worth 1,500 with the victim paying 1,000 up front
but for one reason or another he decided not to pay the remaining balance of 500 pesos
which ultimately ended up costing him his life.

Now you'd think an incident like this would draw national attention followed by public outcry BUT IT WON'T.
Hence the title of this thread.

Take this story and change the location to "pick your city" in the US...most likely it would not get national attention there unless an illegal immigrant committed the crime, and there would be no public outcry either. Why expect it here?

Yes, it is ridiculous to commit murder over 500 pesos, or any amount of money IMHO.

I don’t agree with you at all. In the U.S., we expect justice—period. Doesn’t matter who commits the crime, legal or illegal, American or not. If someone gets murdered over something as pathetic as 500 pesos, that should make people angry no matter where it happens. The difference is, in the U.S. we don’t just shrug it off or act like it’s normal.

My point was the "national attention" the OP mentioned, and that I doubt it would receive such attention in the US, so expecting it here is somewhat useless too
