Local Beers?

We will be staying at the Riu Palace in April The all-inclusive package includes domestic beers. Can any one tell me which beers are considered domestic? We really like Kalick Lite, which we drank in the Bahamas and we are hoping that is a domestic. Karen

Most probably you will be treated to Presidente Beer, which is catching on as one of the best beers in the world. Many tourists have never been the same after they have tried Presidente beer, undoubtedly one of the reasons to visit the Dominican Republic.

DR!: Who do you work for - Presidente? All the beers are good/. Bohemia, Presidente, Quisquilla, etc. Almost to the excellence of Canadian Beers. It is not a reason to visit DR. The people, climate, beaches are reasons.

No doubt the people, climate and the beaches are reasons to visit the DR. But Presidente beer is, too.

Did you know Bohemia is produced by the same company that produces Presidente. Quisqueya beer is no longer produced, the manufacturers replaced it with the Soberana brand. I understand Soberana is bought principally by hotels that don't want to pay the extra to make Presidente available to their all-inclusive guests. Then, why not recommend our best beer?

I guess my enthusiasm is because Presidente is so good it is making it big time in sales in the very competitive US market.

I can only agree, Presidente is a very good beer, I could give a lot to have one right know! It?ll be the first thing I?ll drink when I get back. Until then Karen have one for me please!! Cheers!

I vote for the Presidente, If I wanted Canadian Beer, I'd go North

Ah, Presidente. I remember a few years ago when the movie Up Close and Personal came out and there was a scene where Robert Redford and Michele Pfifer are drinking a couple of Presidentes. I was so surprised and excited that I shouted "Look they are drinking Presidente" to my husband. The people next to us in the theatre looked at me like I was a nut. Oh well, I really wish it were more available here in the US. Everytime my husband and I come back from Sto Dgo he goes through a withdrawal period...very sad.

Canada has good beer? Come-on! Be fer real!! Good beer in Canada? I think not!!! Just kidding Canada has some O.K. beer, but none that I would drive 3 hours for, which I do for Presidente. I have, however, been able to shave a mere 30 minutes off my quest for Presidente. They are now distributing it in Tallahasee Fl. Until now, I have had to do without , drive or drink Tecate. Each time I come back from Sosua/Samana, I go through the dreaded withdrawal But no more. Please try it, it is awesome beer.

Oh, there are better beers in this world, but Presidente is a fine one too, and because it eminates from a land where the people are friendly and genuine, I will always rank it up there with the best, because of all the great memories...Phil...Rhode Island

Presidente was my #1 beer!!!!!....then I tried Soberana this last vacation and I found it to have a much smoother taste and did not leave an after taste in your mouth; also was not bitter... So, Soberana is my favourite now!!!!!
