We currently have Telenord. The service is awful. The last time our internet went down it took nearly 10 days for the repairs to be made. And we called every day to complain! We had Orange/Altice, etc - just as bad.

Does anyone have Elon Musk's STARLINK? Or some other satellite company? - feedback??

It all depends on where you live, Claro fiber optic is still after like 10 years (I still remember when I first came here and the sales person was convinced that they were using fiber optics, which of course it wasn't) very limited to big city centers.
So unless you have access to a local ISP that can provide you fiber optic, you're sadly out of luck. If you cannot live without it, then I recommend you move to a place where it's available.

No comments on Starlink since I know of nobody with it in the DR.

CLARO ran fiber in front of my development years ago. Still not available in my development but available on either side of it.
And CLARO has no idea when it will be available. They sucked big time back when I had their DSL service.

CableDelNorte is the only option and it works most of the time. Advantage is a US IP address.

Where are you 2020? As other suggested, moving to a place with better service might be your only option.

It isn't the service provider so much you have to worry about. Nothing is bullet proof anywhere but what is most likely to take your internet down is the trucks and sloppy installs on the poles.
The other day EdeNorte's sub contractor came and cut trees from their lines (good idea) But they couldn't care less about the fiber lines below the electrical on the same poles and took no caution from dropping big limbs and breaking the fiber optic cables. Then you wait a week for Delancer or Claro to come and sloppily reinstall the lines again.
Or often a dump truck or crane will drive through them
Happens several times per year

Remember I had the same setup. Claro Fiber Optic cable crosses about 30 ft in front of my place but they said it wasn't available. It was the reason I decided to move to San Cris because they said it was available.

I got Altice with 100/40 and haven't looked back.

Guess who calls me almost weekly now to offer me Fiber Optic?

Starlink supposedly won't be available in the DR until 2023.

I'm in Las Terrenas -
Gosh moving to a different town is not an option.....though the Caribbean side intrigues us.
Does anybody have Cable Del Norte?

Yes, I cringe when we drive by our streets and see all the cable lines drooping down and touching the fences. Then a huge truck rumbles through and takes them all down. This morning we saw several cable wires tied together with palm leaves. WTF? It's the Dominican way -

Yes, we do in Cabarete, with fibre-optic cable. I'm having problems at the moment, but I don't think it's the cable. I think it's an intermittent fault with the modem which always works perfectly when the engineer come.

I looked at moving to Jarabacoa back in 2014 but had to pass on it when I learned I could not get a fiber-optic connection in the area where the apartment was located.

I have CableDelNorte Fiber service in Cabarete. It is up most of the time and when there is a problem they respond generally within a day.
It is the only fiber optic service option I have since CLARO no care-o..
I do experience the occasional dropped phone call when using GoogleVoice. Streaming video works pretty well.
