Looking for South Coast Info

Preface:

Myself and mi amigos have not been to DR since COVID (well I think so - but someone might have slipped a trip in under double secret probation).

Anyway - I've never been to PC and have no interest in hanging out with gringos (my own people)

But was thinking of using the PC aeroporto to arrive / depart for a quick trip 5 days. And going to La Romana or Bayahibe areas. Would like to rent motos too.

Another item - I don't do AI's - I like a local place and I can figure out where to eat / drink on my own.

I'm used to North Coast - LT - but getting there for a quick trip from NYC metro is a PITA.

So - can you recommend an area / hotels where there's some night life - limpo playas - decent food. - no Boca Chica vendors trying to sell me shyte that I don't need

Looking to go in Feb.

Thanks

Piantini in Santo Domingo.
But Punta Cana airport is too far.
Can't do SDQ?
Do an airbnb. Everything there and safe.

Go straight to Bayahibe. Several hotels right downtown near the waterfront (Suites21, Hotel Iguana etc), book on Agoda. During the day there are a ton of tour busses dropping off gringos for the day trip boats but they literally go straight from the bus onto the boats. They all return around 5pm and by 6pm they are all completely gone and the town is yours. Onno's,The Lost Bar... plenty of watering holes and very cool vibe with the locals. Scuba diving is excellent and the boat trips are a lot of fun also.

Don’t dismiss Dominicus, next door to Bayahibe. Tons of Airbnb, I can give you the number of a guy I call when we go there. He manages a bunch of them and we’ve never been disappointed. Nice beach, walkable town, great restaurants

Are you talking about Playa Dominicus or what I would call Dominicus proper, a bit to the east. Because I'm seeing a ton of green space for Dominicus proper.

Dominicus starts at Bayahibe border and runs east. It ends with Cadaques, our favorite place to stay. We usually rent an apartment there. On the other side of Cadaques is protected lands.

A lot of advertising calls Dominicus “Bayahibe” because it’s better known.

My recomendation land in Santo Domingo SDQ,, stay at Colonial Zone during the weekend that there are plenty of bars and restaurants walking distance and no need taxi or uber to go and then for weekdays you can rent an apartment in front to the beach in Juan Dolio area that is like 20 minutes away from the SDQ airport or Bayahibe beach that is like 1 hr away from SDQ airport.

I would do that in a heart beat. AE's suggestion about Bayahibe/Dominicus sounds very intriguing.

Bayahibe might be a good fit. Lots of Non AI's at low prices with plenty of bars and restaurants in walking distance. But you would have to do some research as to hotels. Look for a place close to the beach. It is a 50 minute taxi ride from PUJ. If you can book to LRM (La Romana Airport} it is a short hop............

AA just started direct daily flights into LRM (La Romana) from Miami, today is the first day, runs through March I believe.
