Are you sure you aren't looking

for the names of Tour Operators. They are the ones who transport the tourists to POP (the destination of your interest). T/A's sell the packages in the home countries but are only the local agents and have no presence in POP.

If this has to do with selling the excursion that you are setting up, the you probably want Tour Operators. For an excursion of your type they will probably demand a commission of about 40% in order to sell your excursion. Local tour sales companies usually under sell the Tour Operators but don't have the prime locations inside the resorts.

Tour Operators from Canada are:
Sunquest / Alba / ToursMaison (MyTravel Group)
Signature (First Choice Group)
Transat Holidays / Nolitour / World of Vacations (Transat Group)
Conquest
Air Canada Vacations
Sunwing / Red Seal
GoTravelDirect

All will have local contacts.

Tour Operators - not travel agents

YOu definately want the tour operators not travel agents. In the business here we don't work directly with the tour operators in most cases you must go thru the ground handlers first. They control access to the tour operators and representatives!

The ONLY time you go direct is if they don't use a ground handler or you can't get the ground handler to work with you. Then SOMETIMES and I stress only sometimes do you go directly to the tour operator to pressure the ground handler to use your tours.

IT is a minefield in many cases. You have to know the companies and how they each work. THey are all differnt. ANd, the relationships sometimes change. Each ground handler competes for the the business of the tour operators. That again can be a minefield.....

HOpe this helps you.

IMO it is better to find one in your local area...They would know which companies provide the service from your area.

I work in Indiana, but book flights & packages out of Indianapolis, IN, St. Louis, MO and Louisville, KY. I book Vacation Express, Apple Vacations, American Fly Away Vacations just to name a few. However, all to Punta Cana, but they also offer package's to the North Coast.

My good friend Michelle, who used to frequent this board, is a travel agent in Toronto. Her e-mail address is yyzpop@hotmail.com. She's excellent, and has saved us several $$$ when travelling to the DR. Her discounts come in lower than any internet price I've ever seen, and she's opened her own office in the Toronto airport under Sunwing Tours.

If you are here in Canada (the OP of course did not say where they were), you can't go to the tour operator only to a travel agent who sells the packages and offers insurance against the tour operator or airllne going bust. Which happens with alarming regularity here.

To mislarimar - use the phone book or internet to locate a travel agent and buy a package. It will make sense to go where you live and not say Zanzibar if you live in Vancouver. Additionally, you might find, unless you live in Zanzibar, that the daily newspaper and certainly the weekend paper will have roughly 10,000 ads for vacation packages including the DR.

Rick, she is looking for ground handlers to sell her buggy ride excursions here on the north coast.
As Planner said, this is not the work of the travel agents, it is the local ground handlers, that in their turn work with the various travel agencies
and selling them their land arrangements.

I agree, just remember the girl from other posts! ;)
Yes a post asking how to essentially buy a package should not have to have 10 other relational links to other posts to determine in fact it is not asking what it says. C'mon people ask a whole question.
