That's new even for Dominicans.

Now that the "Deep South" is in vogue, tons of locals (especially the ones in SDQ) are vacationing in Neiba, Barahona, San Juan and Bahoruco areas instead of the East.

A good bunch of the population stills consider that these remote areas aren't appealing, while in reality are much even better than North or East regions.

You’re right, the southwest is more and more popular. My in-laws from Santo Domingo mostly still go to Las Terranas for long weekends (occasionally they rent a villa in Casa de Campo). Never north coast, never PC, even though one of them owns a place there (it’s rented out long term)
