The Codetel "Caller-ID" is costing you an extra $70 pesos a month Lucille.(Plus 28% tax) lol

With all taxes, my bill comes to +/- $3,200 pesos per month. I have a higher speed.

Don. I thought the Caller Id feature was free of charge.....ha ha ha

What kind of speed do you have?

It's always $29.95 plus $20 for the first year or $49.95. Am I missing something?

Its a saving of 10 dollars because Mj has always been 39.99 in all stores. This includes the first year service.

can I use this device to call people in the DR with cell phones only- they are too poor to own a computer.. I am not too familiar with how this thing works.. thanks for any advice- for 20 bucks a month sounds pretty good- right now I'm spending close to 50 a month with Sprint calling on my phone to the DR as it is....

You can only call U.S., Canada and P.R. for free.

NO D.R. for free

And it's $20 a year, not $20 a month.

For calls to LANDLINE phones in the D.R., with Vonage you can call and talk all you want.
Vonage gives you 60 countries you can call for free, not all countries include calls to cell phones for free. Vonage is $24.95 a month plus tax.

Lucille, he has 4 times the download speed you have. You have 256 K and he has 1 MB. On your up- load you only have 128K which can make VOIP or applications like Majic Jack harder to work. That is about the lease you can have 0128) and it still possible work. Just an fyi.

magicjack works everywhere. I have used it in colombian hoteles, colombian bus terminals, USA airports, DR airports and almost all wifi spots all over the world. magicjack also works flawlessly in pakistan. mexico and europe etc. I take my magicjack with me everywhere I travel and it usually works better than the hotel phone. I know tricks to call all over the world for free through magicjack by dialing another number and using a PIN (code). Free International Calls to Asia, America, China, Japan, UK, USA, Europe and More. Free Call Button Free calls to friends and family in several countries any time of the day. Free Phone Call will get you to this step.
magicjack rocks all the way. I love it.

My MJ has been acting up this year. Sometimes the connection is flawless but most times I'll dial, get connected some times good, sometimes skipping but after a few seconds I get 3 rapid beeps then the phone goes dead. I can redial get connected, then again after a few seconds the same thing. This is most frustrating. Has any one else experienced this? Any suggestions as to what the problem might be along with a fix?
Thanks,
Mack.

Check your upload speed. You need at lease 30-35 kbps. Mine works flawlessly , and has been for almost a year now.

Thanks SKY, I just did, it shows,
download 567 kbps upload 144 kbps.
I have checked this in the past and it varies but I don't think it has ever been as low as 30-35 kbps.
Any other ideas?

When I say 30-35 I mean 300-350 sorry about that. This is your problem for sure. You need a faster upload speed. You can verify this by using it on a computer with a fast upload speed and see how it works.

Okay SKY thanks.
That makes sense.
I'm paying 51USD for 800mbps down and 150mbps up
To get 300mbps up would cost 65USD and 99USD for 768mbps.
So it would probably cost 99USD/mth for a flawless connection.
Not worth it for me. I guess I'm stuck with the frustration. :(
Mack.

I would doubt you need upload speed with ANY VOIP service at 300 kbps. Most codecs (e.g. g729) which is POTS quality, requires about 15 kbps with overhead. Even if you want g711 ulaw (no compression) you need only 64 kbps (same as one voice channel on analogue phone line).
