I been sending letters often over the past year to the DR. I always send it registered and it usually takes about 1 week and a half. After September 11th, I sent a letter. I went for a visit in DR the 2nd week of October and the letter arrived during my stay. I understand that the mail in Canada had been put on a standstill for almost 2 weeks that explained the lateness of my letter getting there! But I sent another letter on November 5th, registered and it still has not arrived. It left Canada on the 9th so I am figuring it should have been there by this time. Does anyone know if the mail is on a standstill in the DR??? I have read before here that the mail usually takes some time but like I said I have been sending letters over the past year and this is the second time in a row that it hasnt been under 2 weeks. anyway..I guess I am lucky that the letters even get there!

Any comments?? Cheers!

Be patient.
I picked up a parcel yesterday that had been lying there 6 weeks in the Post office, simply because someone forgot to leave a note in my P.O. Box.
All my earlier asking was replied with "don't worry, as soon as it gets here we'll leave a note..."

When I asked them yesterday to go through the huge pile the went like " ooops what do we have here...?"

Hi Roxanne,
I was told by Canada Post that regular mail takes approximately 2 weeks for delivery at this time and priority mail + registered mail a week and a half but, with no guarantees. I used Purolater which is a lot more expensive but, Canada Post guarantees the delivery within 3 days. I tried it and my husband received all documents within the allotted time.

WEEKLY UPDATE - ASCOT ADVISORY SERVICES

Dominican Republic News and Notes:

Many clients have asked us about some sort of mailing facility or
private mailbox service in the Dominican Republic. We recently visited the
brand new "Mail Boxes Etc" facility with one of our clients, which is
now open in Santo Domingo. We spoke with Mr. Jose Pellerano, who speaks
fluent English, and we have been informed that a second location is
also being planned for Santiago (of interest to clients on the North
Coast). The minimum monthly fee is less than RD$300 Pesos (about US$18) for
a private mail box and they will gladly forward mail anywhere (via
courier) as well for an additional fee. Clients have use of the Santo
Domingo address for any correspondence, in addition to a mailing address in
Miami as well (mail is automatically sent to your private mail box in
Santo Domingo within 48 hours of reaching Miami). Mr. Pellerano has
said he would be glad to be of assistance to our clients, so feel free to
contact him directly should you have an interest in arranging such a
service for yourself:
