I love it when all these people try to analyze the psychic of the Dominican man...People! We're not really that complicated. All we want is a woman who looks decent, is loyal, and has a good reputation around town (in other words is known to be faithful, etc). The one we can "bring home to mother". She will be the main woman. Then we want a couple on the side to have fun with, you know because things will eventually get boring at home if you only have one. Those we will hang out and party with, but won't be seen around town with...and they know it, so they have no expectations that they are the main woman.

We're not different from "first world" guys in what we want. The only difference is we actually do it.

And your actually doing it is where all the problems start... That's why Dominican men have many kids with many different women... So then the children suffer because papi chulo just did it..

That's the difference between a civilized society, and a messed up society like the Dr... Almost all men would like to have many different women besides the wife.. But usually common sense kicks in..

There's some who don't necessarily have a kick on the side (maybe a one time kick), or if they do it, they come to their senses soon and dedicate to their family.

I won't even get into a discussion with you about that, because when you start with the premise that your society is better than mine then there's nothing to discuss...I would bet that kids in a so called "civilized" society grow up with as many issues or more than kids in The DR. I won't even get into a discussion with you about that, because when you start with the premise that your society is better than mine then there's nothing to discuss...I would bet that kids in a so called "civilized" society grow up with as many issues or more than kids in The DR. They may be a different set of issues, but just the same.

Don't pay attention to that "civilized society" thing. The problems associated with "fatherless" children, early sexual activity in teens and a myriad of related societal ills are not a Dominican phenomenon. These are problems which are also encountered (including fathering with multiple partners, etc.) in all corners of the so called "civilized societies" and are most often concentrated in pockets of poverty within these societies.

The myth of the lying, cheating Dominican Man can be busted with economic ascention through upward mobility. The problem seems to be that there just isn't a lot of opportunity for any significant upward mobility afforded to most of the people in the Dominican Republic.

I'm betting that as the economy grows and available social services, education and economic opportunity increase there that these problems will be addressed properly and not just chalked up to heredity.

In my country, as well as many others, men can have as many women as they can support and who will agree in the arrangement. But, what men do for those women who agree to be with them like that? To be "the main" woman can even be worse mentally and emotionally because everyone else will know your man is cheating and look at you with compassion since you are the one escorting him everywhere. It is kind of pathetic. Or, they are actually proud to be "the Wife."

Agree, men could at least give more respect and time to their wives and girlfriends who forgive them everything, not show up with too many side girls around town and hit openly on others.
