Nacional usually stocks the Roland brand of mango chutney which is pretty dire. I think Pola sells it too. Bravo might have better choices, and you could also try Supermercado Amigo on Tiradentes, Naco.

These two places are where you are more likely to find a proper brand like Pataks - L'epicier de l'orient, Plaza Paseo de la Churchill on Churchill with Roberto Pastoriza, or Asiatico on Avenida 27 de Febrero with Privada.

Yep, I bought recently in Asiatico, they also have a great mixed pickle as well. Delicious !

My friend there is no price on what makes you happy. I might be different but I spend a considerable amount of dollars to live my European lifestyle in this country. It wasn't possible a few years ago but now I can import almost 99% of the things I like. The price is immaterial.......the fact that it is possible is a major step forward in my opinion.

nothing imported is cheap here...nothing

Agree 100 percent I either get family to bring or order on line to ensure I can cook my Jamie Oliver / Slash Gordon Ramsey recipes xxx

Now I am in the mood for some West of Scotland style spiced onions ( as offered by every Indian Restaurant in and around Glasgow). :classic:
So easy made and delicious.

2 large white onions
salt
chili powder
chili paste
tomato ketchup
mint ( or mint sauce if you have this)
some mango chutney (use the salsa from the
chutney only)

finely dice the onions, add to a bowl, and salt well, mixing well. Allow to stand or refrigerate for 30 mins, rinse off to remove salt and the onion juice that has appeared.

add back to bowl, with 1 to 2 tsp chili powder, pinch salt, 1 tbs chili paste and 1-2 tbs tomato ketchup, mix, add small amount mint and refrigerate for 15 mins to 1 hr.

Eat with popadums sprayed with oil and microwaved for 10 secs until puffed up. Open beer, relax and experience a sudden onset of extreme appetite. :lick:
