Mapfre Salud announced on Wednesday, 5 May 2021 that it will reimburse affiliates for medical consultations if they are affected by the physician work stoppage announced by the Dominican Medical Association (CMD).
“The claims of the Dominican Medical Association (CMD) are beyond the competence of Mapfre Salud ARS, as well as that of any other insurance company, since the National Social Security Council is the institution that regulates the conditions of coverage, the governing body of the system, and of which the CMD itself is a member,” said Mapfre in a paid advertisement.
Meanwhile, Dr. Justo Nicasio, president of the Specialized Medical Societies, announced a nationwide healthcare services stoppage would affect the affiliates of Mapfre from 10 May to 16 May 2021. Dr. Nicasio is hopeful before then the situation can be resolved.
