Can anyone tell me what the weather at night in March is like? Should I bring lots of sweater/light jackets and long pants for night time?

Whereabouts are you planning to stay in the DR? The only place you may need any of those items is if you are staying way up in the mountains somewhere.

It is getting a bit nippy at night.
Here's a pic of the drive up to my house.

But I wouldn't worry as they say the sun will shine later on today.;)

Ok...
I was just kidding.
It's beautifully warm.
On a given cool night, you might want a long pair of pants and shirt, or maybe even a light jacket, but no more than that.

You might want to bring pants at night for the sole purpose of fitting in. Shorts are considered VERY informal, "beachwear".

One sweater should suffice for a week (on the few nights it might be chilly enough) You won't need it in the city but near the water it can be breezy.

A wrap or shawl is also adequate most nights.....

It's more a matter of keeping the 'cerrano' / dew off as the moisture on your skin makes the evaporation from the breeze feel cool.:bunny:

I thought the OP might be a man, otherwise I would have suggested just the thing. Who knows maybe they make man-shawls ;)

even on the south coast a couple of weeks ago i could have used a light sweater at night and in the morning. Even high 60's or low 70's feels a little brisk after 85-90 in the day.

Oh...and something else i always bring is my own nice fluffy pillow. No matter where i have stayed in DR i always get a flat thin brick for a pillow.

I just got back last night from Punta Cana. Weather was beatiful. It seemed to rain for a few and I mean few minutes in the early morning and in the evening after dinner. I would recommend taking something light or at least with long sleeves. And yes, some long pants. We sat outside until late every evening. Have Fun! Wish I were going back again in March.
