I think only bus service was affected. The problem is not not paying taxes, but not having fiscal printers in the points of sale.

Are you serious? I provided Metro with Volvo and Scania parts from 2005-2011, when Juan, the espanol was in charge with his expensive guitar...do you remember him?Can't reply with quote either.

I am seeing a lot of changes in customs here in Dr. Investment, tracking, more offices being built, and now the best bus line shut down... They are growing teeth.
At the same time the mess with encuentro...and the hookers in sosua are ugly and fat... And the sea was just plastic after one day of rain in Santo domingo.

I can't see the shuttering as being a permanent thing. Too many assets, jobs tied up for the owners to just to walk away. If metro is gone for good, then I would hope that the increased passengers on Caribe Tours would allow that company to schedule buses for Santiago/La Vega so the trip from the North Coast to/from SD doesn't have to be a milk run anymore.

Caribe Tours does have stops in Santiago and La Vega. 3 stops in Santiago, as a matter of fact. they also have an express bus that bypasses Santiago on the way from SD to POP.

I know where the bus goes and I am hoping if metro is gone for good that specific CT buses can be scheduled to these destinations so that those who have no desire to go to these places can get to and from SD without having to deviate and incur delays along the way. The whole point is to avoid downtown Santiago traffic delays when I don't need to go there. I thought that point was pretty clear.

Isn't the charge that Metro never installed the tax printers? I can't recall reading they never paid the tax.
I have interpreted the situation as you have described. Metro has apparently not installed the equipment needed to document the taxes collected on each ticket sold to the satisfaction of DGII.
It may take a little time for that equipment to be purchased and installed. I do think Metro will be back in operation soon as this problem should not be sufficient to cause the owners to walk away.

Gorgon, It's 2 stops in Santiago, Los Jardines and then other also off 27 Feb. close to Colinas Mall. Are you including the La Vega stop?
Cdn_Gringo, buy one of the express tickets as suggested by Gorgon and you by pass Santiago all together. They use Circunvalacion entering just north of the airport and then connecting to Autopista Joaquin Balaguer just before Villa Gonzalea.
The timing for the express bus usually works out first thing in the morning going to SD, but I rarely get the chance to take one coming back. Skipping a bus to wait for an express doesn't result in much of a time savings and can even take longer if you don't get out of SD before the afternoon traffic begins.
At least at the Sosua EncargoPaq office they have a truck or use CT. We just called them and some items came in today.
As for getting the needed equipment for the Metro offices...….. you KNOW that all the equipment sitting in a truck right outside on the street. It's just a matter of: 1. Paying the fine. 2. How fast do you want the equipment. 3. How much for fast delivery of the equipment. 4. Fast service installation fee. 5. Fee for turning it on. 6. Monthly service fee. 7. What ever else that anyone can think of to make money on the side. I'm sure the negotiations are hot and heavy.
If Metro never returns, Caribe Tours should buy new buses (or buy Metro's buses, lol) and offer a new service, perhaps name it "Caribe Tours Élite". More comfortable, more luxurious, more expensive. Problem solved. They can even create a small more luxurious area in each Caribe Tours section for the 'Caribe Tours Élite' clientele. lol
