Ministry of Public Works says Bani bypass will be in operation by December 2024

After inspection rounds, Minister of Public Works Deligne Ascensión told Listin Diario the 19.60 Avenida Circunvalación de Bani is on schedule to be completed by November or December 2024. Ascención said he saw for himself that works are 90% completed.

The bypass will significantly reduce driving time between Santo Domingo and Barahona. At present, it can take up to an hour to drive through the contested city of Baní. The Azua bypass was finished during the Abinader administration but is already in operation. The Baní bypass is the missing link to reduce driving time from Santo Domingo to Barahona to two hours. The works have been contracted to Ecosisa and Compañía Estrella.
