It was probably stolen for sale. My friend had a chow chow puppy stolen and she said they are worth over 6000 pesos.

when my dog went missing in santo domingo I made a hundred or so posters with a picture of her and a description and offered a reward. I got her back about 3 weeks after she went missing - they had a copy of the poster and contacted me that way - I believe it was only the $ RD 5000 reward I offered that brought her back.

It makes me fel a little better, tha if somebody is prepared to pay for her, at least they must have wanted a ChowChow and must be looking after her. Just need to know she is safe :(
