PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — A mob in the Haitian capital beat and burned 13 suspected gang members to death with gasoline-soaked tires Monday after pulling the men from police custody at a traffic stop, police and witnesses said.

The horrific violence underlined the increasingly lawless situation in Port-au-Prince where criminal gangs have taken control over an estimated 60% of the city since the July 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moïse.

Haiti National Police said in a brief statement that officers in the city's Canape Vert section stopped and searched a minibus for contraband, and had confiscated weapons from suspects before they were “unfortunately lynched by members of the population.” The statement did not elaborate on how members of the crowd were able to take control of the suspects.

An AP reporter at the scene saw 13 bodies burning in a street. The fires drew hundreds of onlookers in the hilly suburb of the city, many of them shielding their noses from the fumes.
Samuel said the suspects were believed to have been heading to another area to join a group of gang members who were battling police. Another witness, Jean Josue, said there had been a lot of shooting in the area since the early morning.

The situation in the capital remained tense, and shots could be heard ringing out from several neighborhoods.

Witnesses at the scene said the suspects were believed to have been members of the Kraze Barye gang, which translates to “Breaking Barriers.” Authorities say the group is led by Vitel’Homme Innocent, who is accused of helping kidnap 17 U.S. missionaries in October 2021 and also is linked to the assassination of Moïse.

For those who say Haiti can't be fixed...
The answer is guns...
Lots and Lots of guns.
There are good people in Haiti ready to confront evil.
They need more than just harsh language to work with.

There is fresh video of them butchering and cannibalizing suspected gang members and this man thinks guns will solve their issues.
Goodness gracious.
Yes I do.

And the "johnnie come lately" better dig deep into the Haiti forum before he dines on his foot again.
I have a long history in the Haiti forum of advocating that only brave people with guns can stop evil.
And when things go bump in the night...you don't call your lawyer...you call me (when I was working) or people like me to come running to save your @ss.

Without taking into account the history of lynching and the
damage it did to marginalized communities in other countries...
If you have a better solution to deal with these terrorist, I'm all ears.
Guns, lots of guns.
Unfortunately I am way past my time to be an effective fighter.
But there are many that can...and will...if they have more than just harsh language to confront evil with.

I'm sure shooting people would resolve the issue of an entire society lacking the desire and capacity to create institutions.

No, it won't resolve the issue you pointed out.
But right now, how in the world can their society create institutions when gangsters are tearing what was in place down and preventing anything constructive from being built.
Only people with guns can fight back against that evil.
And after peace is restored only then can those sitting behind their computer screens in safety and privilege can begin to counsel on how to "create institutions.
Tell me this brother...all this call for world intervention...you think the are asking for individuals who know how to "create institutions"?
I am going to help a brother out here...
No they are not.
They are asking for people with guns to go shoot the people who are disrupting things.

How do you feel about the war in Ukraine?
And how is arming the people of Haiti any different?

I shall wait for your answer (and it is ok to use more than just one line to get your point across).

it would only take two battalions of regular U.S troops to clean up the entire island of gangs and thugs. The problem is the day after they left it would return to the way it was.
