not so easy if you have tiles on the walls. and if you start from scratch it's worth having the power issue in mind from the get go.

True, thinking of new construction. We moved alot to make it exactly where it should have been in the first place. :) meh....

Definitetly sort the circuits out. If you have an inverter, there are limits to what it can handle. In my case, went with a 14kw back-up from the git-go. So our wiring is kind of normal ( buried cable from street to main breaker, house is fully grounded in 4 places, generator is grounded, we actually have a ground wire to all plugs and lights, and all bathrooms/kitchens are GFCI, etc.)
