It is hard to do your due diligence when the seller, the agent, your attorney, their attorney, and the judge ALL lie to you.
Also, any anger people have is not from childhood trauma from the Trullijo days. It is from today, 2025.

People getting screwed elsewhere has zero to do with people getting screwed in the DR.
That type of argument hits home with some people, but it is a failure in logic. I call it the "it happens everywhere"

Agreed. A large proportion of this strange video is taken up by property scams that happen in the US. What does that have to do with anything that happens in the DR?
I watched the video, I actually liked everything he said and the way he said it up until the point when, indeed a large portion of the video, was focused on the US... I was expecting his deeper insight on the bullet points he mentioned in the beginning, like vetting the developer, but focus went to the US...
I fully agree, I believe there are countless people in the DR who just hand out money when they are spoken crap and then complain that they lost their money and come to forums like this. But that's not all the people obviously.
I've said this before, my BIL built a large house to the family campo near POP and lost everything due to family dispute. His own brother, with paperwork, "stole" the whole property from him. So it's not just expats, but it's also not so that all developers and real estate people are garbage.

Kind of if a highrise collapse in the DR (no highrises have collapsed in DR) many will blame it on things like the DR being a developing country, construction styles, etc. However, about a year ago a highrise collapsed in South Florida and no one thought it was due to the USA. The same could happen in both places and the same person could have a different reaction depending where it happened. Inevitably, if it happens in the DR it will be blown out of proportion vs the same in the USA.
