National Holidy starting Thursday @ noon

Jus read on the DR1 daily update that starting at noon tomorrow til 6AM Saturday is a National Holiday. In terms of stores, businesses and services what does this actually mean?
We were here 4 years ago at election time, and we were told that everything HAD to be closed to allow the Dominicans to vote. Since it was on a Sunday, churches had to remain closed also.
What does the President declaring it a National Holiday actually mean?

We will be open (colmado, Juan Dolio), and I should think someof the shops in San Pedro will be till noon tomorrow. I wouldn't go out though as the roads will be crazy on Friday and definitely stay in on Saturday as if/when Leonel wins they will be lots of drunken celebrations.

Most places will be open Thursday, but Friday will be closed for voting. No big deal...There are to be no liquor sales on Friday either...

HB - I am sure they will stock up on the liquor today!!!! ;)

This means then the bars will be closed tomorrow!
