Hello,

I plan to get married to a Dominican in April. I met him as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I am wondering if anyone know numbers or addresses of the justice of the peace or where we need to register. How much in advance you need to register. How long it takes to get a marriage certificate. Where we get it notarized. Then the other question is would it be easier to get married at a hotel and have them take care of it. Does anyone know any hotels and more or less the cost?

Thanks

It looks like you're trying to do this the economical way - if so don't bother with lawyers or middlemen. It is very simple actually - you will need to have a judge witness the wedding either at his office or at a place of your choosing.
You will have to pay something but I'm sure it won't be that much. Also, the marriage certificate in most cases will be available in a day or two after the wedding. Have your fiancee find this out - it will be very easy for him to do this.

As far as hotel costs it will depend very much on where you will be staying. In Santiago and the capital you can get a good hotel for US40-50 or clean w/ac.

A good hotel in the capital is Hotel Residencia Venezia prezioso hotel vicinissimo al centro coloniale ed al mare (call in advance as they fill up quick - also, if there are filled don't go with any of there other recommendations, try Hotel Melia.)

and in Santiago:

Hotel Aloha Sol, S A
El Sol 50
Santiago
(809) 583-0090

Good luck
