I was asked this by a friend but not able to answer it.
He arrived here from the U.K. mid May and did not make his return flight home:paranoid:
Due to unexpected events back home he needs to return towards the end of August for around 2 weeks but then wants to come back.
Can he do it without causing waves with immigration/passport control?

No problems. He just pays the overstay amount at immigration when he leaves. Folks do it all the time. Tell him not to worry.

The DR has that effect on people. Lots of us missed our outbound flights years and years ago.

Would be interesting to find out if the new regulation is applied or not.

Thanks Jumbo.....don't suppose they are open to negotiation per chance? lol
In Thailand they do get pretty nasty if you overstay your month by even 5 mins....but then a handful of "tea money" can sometimes win them over!!!!!!

If he intends to fly to the UK by Thomson he will find it very difficult (or impossible) to get a ticket originating this end. He will probably have to go back via the USA or Europe.

I agree with MountainAnnie that he will just have to pay an overstay fine (which isn't much) when he leaves the DR.
