Ken,

I spoke to Felix yesterday and it seems like Sept. 8 is open house. That is on Saturday and on Monday it is open for business. So come on Sept.8 if you want to look around.

Update on the new gym?

Any update on this new gym? Is it open for business? What are the rates? Is it any good? Big? Plenty of weights and machines? Please advise thinking about going to Sosua next month. Thanks in advance!

The first month (Sept.) was 500RD. The rate now is 700RD. This rate will remain. The gym has been open for about a month now. It is well run, very clean, everything is new. Rugs, machines, etc. They have aerobics and spinning classes regularly. There are bathrooms on both floors with showers.

There are nice free weights in addition to the machines.

If you want to come for the day and you are not a member you can pay 100RD to use the facilities.

jackman, also check out Golden Park. New owners, now management and many improvements in the works. Much roomier than the new gym, more machines per muscle group, and the AC is on all day.

I have not noticed any fall off since opening of new gym. In fact, it seems to be picking up new people.

Great to have AC. I find I can move more weight and tire less with AC.

Kyle, nothing at present. Golden Park is talking about courts of one sort or another, but nothing yet.

Golden Park is on a street off the highway that goes from Sosua to Cabarete. As you are leaving Sosua, you will see the big gymnasium sign at the corner of a street that goes to the right. It is at the end of that street.

The new gym is on Pedro Clisante, the main street of Sosua. Go all the way to the end of the street with your back to the town.

From the center of town, it is just a little shorter walk to Golden Park. Between 15+ walk to GP and a few minutes longer to the new gym.

There are reports that the big casino nearing completion at Sosua Bay Hotel will have a gym and several types of courts.

Let's hope so. I'd for one enjoy being able to play a bit of basketball or tennis in the morning or early evening....

There are tennis courts now in Sosua you can pay to use. One is at a hotel near the other casino and the other is at Sea Horse Ranch.

you can pay to play...although the courts are a little rough i think it was rd 240 for an hour....at voramar and some extortionate fee at sea horse but you get a ball boy if required

Does anybody here have an update on the new gym ? I think Golden Park is realy going down hill now. None of the walkers downstairs works anymore, and today one of the machines I use upstairs was also out of order.

The new gym is exactly that. NEW. Everything works, the price is 700RD per month for all the facilities. If you know him, Felix is the main man there. He teaches Aerobics, helps you with weights, etc.

Plenty of nice girls there also. I like it much better than Golden Park.
