Gringas are white girls from like the USA or Canada or Europe, nothing negative though..
Cabanas, are exactly like a Motel, except that instead of driving up to the door of the motel room, you drive INTO a Garage ( secure) of the unit which has a OPEN garage door, and there is then a door INTO the room from there.. again secure . you put the garage door down, to let them know you settled in, and they come and collect the $$ for the stay... its very nice.. you will love it .

If you are staying at Infinity Blu I would not stay at a cabana, I doubt you would like it. Just take a cab or Uber to sosua when you get in, you will be fine. They know the roads and the deal so really it is not a big scary ordeal as some may have you believe.
Trust me, you're STILL a gringa. I know this from personal experience (gringo, not gringa.) Regardless of your shade, the way you comport yourself, and the clothes you wear will have you pegged.
Work out a price. We as Americans aren't used to doing that, but your taxista is. Ask him the price and when he says $100.00 say "I never have paid that much, just $80.00" and he'll accept that, and you'll have money to buy another bikini when you get to your resort.
If you spent the night in Santiago and take the Metro bus the next morning to Sosua it drops you off at the end of the line about ten minutes walk from Infinite Blue. A little less than 400 pesos or less than $10. Trip should take about 90 minutes. During the day you can see what you are driving past.

Oh, no you didn't, girlfriend. My advice to you would be to stay you butt within the confines of the AI, except to go on the dune bugy/jungle tour, don't eat the salad from the buffet line, and you'll be just fine.
upon your return stateside, spend the next 3 or 4 months going through DR1 posts, and then maybe, just maybe, you'll be ready for that moto or guagua ride, drive a car in the capitol, and eat comida de calle.
