It's not a hotel, as the initial posting indicated.
oh, the article i read (link in spanish) said "hotel". even their website says: For reservations and hotel inquiries, please email us at. sorry if that's not accurate.

At the end of the street before you get to the Ocean Club, is a very large hole they dug, the length of the block. They were pouring concrete the last time I was down the road. Maybe it's the parking garage. Just wondering what was being built. Not sure what new construction you are referencing. This is Ocean Club. It has been (and continues to be) under construction- on the left of Infiniti Blu facing Playa Imbert from the land, not looking at it from the sea. They are still completing one or two buildings and the underground parking garage. (The noise right now is terrible as they bang away at the rock they are cutting out.)
Already, they are getting the prices quoted, I understand. So for those who question, clients have been coming over the months at those prices. The place is nice. Classy nice. The wine cellar is like nothing I have ever seen in this country.
I always said that Ocean Club makes Infiniti Blu look like the poor neighbor. In the end, I really don't mind playing that role. Demand has been created for our units. I would sell mine at a profit and rent, but rentals at IB now are hard to come by.

WW, don't know about playa grande. i just got new car and my first drive will be to pick my friend up. luckily she has a set of mega airbags but still... not sure how i feel about driving further. but miesposo may get some time off so we could all go.
As guests of the current owners, my family and I stayed in the 4 bedroom penthouse and know more stories about the history of this lovely hotel (perhaps best described as a suite-hotel) than I could share in a short message. While it was heartbreaking to sit in a restaurant space where my uncle's, Thomas Philipp's, lifeless body was dumped over a balcony almost 26 years ago, the food was n excellent. Thomas Philipp built Larimar on the site of the beach house that he owned. (Perhaps gifted to him by General Imbert, though my grandfather, Bruno Philipp came to own the remaining DORSA lands in the early sixties). My family has never seen a peso from the property thanks to the Dominican government's cover-up of my uncle's murder, the theft of the property by Jaime Morey, and a boggled ownership structure thanks to a series of incompetent and corrupt lawyers.
I wish the current owners and developers every success. They treated my family like royalty and worked hard to create a gem of a restoration of the Larimar. Gated resorts are the new normal for third world boutique properties, and I imagine clientele without social consciences will turn a blind eye to the ugliness outside the gates.
May I meet your friend ??

what is this now? St Barts?
The Ganesvoort website states:I know there was a law suit with Dream City. A local lawyer made a mistake and it cost his family dearly. They had to sell many of their assets to resolve the problem. Thank God this was kept quiet, as this is a very good Dominican family in Sosua. People who have nothing but kindness and generosity in their hearts.
This is all very sad. As a property owner, I want all new projects to succeed, especially those that provide Sosua with hope of a future.
I live next to Ganesvort. It has blocked its entrance with sheets of metal. I must assume it is closed. It suffered a lot of damage in last year's storm and never had the clientele that they book at their other resorts.
Let's hope that this winter's tourist season gives a good boost to local businesses and development. I must say, the road traffic has increased substantially and the parking lot at Playero is always full. So there are people coming. And that is a good sign.
I think.

Ganesvoort Website said:Effective October 1, 2018, the resort formerly known as Gansevoort Dominican Republic is no longer associated with Gansevoort Hotel Group or part of its real estate portfolio. We will continue to serve our valued guests at our Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC property and Gansevoort Turks + Caicos property.
i copied above post from another thread into this one. is the place closing their doors or did the gansevoort brand pulled out?
