It will be interesting to read the stories in a few weeks of how the authorities choose to target the "illegal" population for deportation. And further down the road, the effect of all this on prices as the cheaper labor pool shrinks.

But the DR government has not been renewing work visas according to those in the know in this thread.

And the promise has been made to deport 10, 000 illegals each week which will take more than 2 years before even most of the illegals are deported.
They have to deport all illegals and not provide special treatment. The priority is deportation.
That will no way be a net deportation of 10k/month. This is a migracion dream come true.

I am posting here as I don't know where to put my beaten to death question. Please forgive me.
If I were to leave for a short visit to the US after overstaying 7 years and paying the hefty overstay fee, would there be any danger in not being allowed back in? I have read that it is possible to be denied entry solely for staying too long without any other strikes against me but I find that hard to believe.

A friend of mine with 7 years overstay flew to Miami and back, just 2 weeks ago. He traveled from Aeropuerto Cibao in Santiago. No issues at all.

And I don't currently anticipate he will have a problem re-entering the DR again, which is what the person asked about.

The DR is not paying attention to illegal alien gringos. They can come and stay for ever, drive forever on forengin licenses and even work. No issues.

For the Americans, 100%. It's a fair trade given the amount of taxpayer benefits illegal Dominicans are provided in the USA.

Gringos (unlike Haitians) bring with them a lot of good old fashion cash. I know how much it makes your blood boil however last time I checked, Cash was still King.

The "Illegal alien gringos" as you like to call them will continue to enjoy themselves, spend their cash and ignore those wining idiots who constantly complain about something, which at the end of the day... is no other gringo's business.

The title of this thread says it all. Migration is doing exactly what the President has asked them to do.

As a DR citizen, I am against all illegals. But yes, the government only cares about certain illegals.

Do you really think that immigration polices are equal to absolutely everyone? That's not how things work. Every country has immigration policies that are catered to what benefits that country at a certain time. Gringos who can enter with a tourist card contribute to the economy, are not burdening the health system or the schools, are not squattering homes or rioting, and the government imposes them the burden of an an overstay fee, which doesn't label them as illegals, then I don't see a problem with that.

You have a lot more protection using a credit card. If concerned about fraud, do not offer your debit card.
