President Luis Abinader announced “Validafirma,” a web platform for validation of digital documents and signatures. The platform is part of the Dominican Republic’s Digital Agenda 2030.

The Presidency reports the new tool makes it easier for individuals and legal entities to verify and validate the authenticity, integrity and legality of digitally-signed documents nationwide. It also can optimize and modernize processes for both the public and private sectors.

“Validafirma” is developed by the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel). During the presentation, Indotel president, Nelson Arroyo said the project is part of the steps taken to make the Dominican Republic more connected and modern.

The issue is that every single government organisation just loves to make things complicated. I need to change the account name on a trash account with the Ayuntamiento and they gave us an instruction sheet which has about 20 steps. Nobody can explain why they can't just change the name, it's not as if there is a line of people trying to pay my trash bill. Same with Claro, we had to submit about 30 documents to change the name on an account. So although this new service is introduced to make things simple, in reality it will just be another step to add to the list to complicate things further.

The digital world is coming - they will know how many times you flush the toilet soon.
But Adobe Acrobat has had this digital signature technology for at least a decade

21st Century here we come.
(minus the education of course)
education as we know it has changed and will never be the same. Graduate degrees from reputable universities are completed online in many cases. All you need is 50 or 60 gees.

I think university degrees are a waste of time for so many.
An accomplished welder can make $160K.
A good car mechanic can make $100K.
A plumber and electrician $120K.
There are many professions where you can do well without college.

Exactly. That's why I never turn my nose up at a community college. They offer programs like that.

This bill is a now a reality 20 years later.
The digital signage on Gov forms and procedures is been on the works since Jorge Mera (RIP) was the Director of INDOTEL.
20 years and 6 goverments later, the DR State moves slower than a snail crossing the main road in Playa Encuentro, lol.
