President Luis Abinader issued Decree 601-26 on 26 August 2026, establishing a comprehensive regulatory framework to supervise professional and recreational baseball, academy operations, and player development programs across the Dominican Republic.
The decree establishes that the primary oversight authority is the National Baseball Commissioner’s Office (Dirección del Comisionado Nacional de Béisbol), a functionally decentralized entity attached to the Ministry of Sports. The office is structured under an Executive Directorate supported by two operational divisions: the Technical Directorate, which oversees infrastructure, safety, training, and anti-doping; and the Directorate of Baseball Regulation, tasked with administrative registry and supervision.
