I don’t know. We will have to see if there are some specialists here on dr1. Why not have dominican republic news in the url. People don’t randomly search dr1 on google to find news. But again maybe someone here in the forum knows how it works.
No I have never had an AOL account. I think that was mainly a US phenomena. Or what do you mean exactly.
SEO is not that easy as you think I run servers and I am IT myself. It's expensive to run a solid news with SEO if you can find other way. I can help guide you and get it more attractive as well.
Changing the URL is a start then make few changes and you'll be ok and the contents there needs to grow before you add SEO and others.
SEO is not easy. But there is not much competition in this case. News in English about the Dominican Republic. Only Dominican Today.
One thing folks many not know: You can search for things on DR1 on google by starting your search with "DR1: xxxxxxx"

Thats right JD. There are also simple instructional videos on YouTube which will show you how to craft search strings like a pro to get accurate, to the point results. Then, maybe we wouldn't have to hear from folks that are not tech pros telling us how to run the site.
I think the idea with improving SEO for dr1 would be for people to find it when they search news in english about the Dominican Republic. Searchers who don’t know this excellent news forum exists.

What problems do you see? There is no "SEO" anymore, because big "G" dominates. Everybody else makes up 10%.
That being said, if you search big "G" for text in dr1.com news articles the links show up right away. Dolores gets up hella early every day and writes all the news articles and posts them. There's some israeli site that claims to be "the first and only one" but whatevers, that's not actually true. DR1.com has been posting since the mid-1990's
