A colleague of mine (Venezuelan, from the USA), has asked me several times if I would be able to get copies of a newspaper that was around decades ago in DR: La Nacion. Her grandfather has written columns under two aliases in a regular basis in that newspaper, I believe in the forties of the past century.

Does anyone know how to get to the archives of that newspaper?

in Europe it would be easy: you go to some big university library, check catalog and order them and read at place...but here ?
if this newspaper still exists contact redaction and ask them....

There is a National Library, the Pedro Mir Library (UASD) and a national archive - Archivo General de la Naci?n
Slight chance that they might have press archives.

I once did some work at a house in Moises garcia. In the basement were piles of Listen Dario from the 1920s. I read them all very interesting Especially the plea for the goverment to do sompthing about the women in palo Hincado drinking in the street and using foul language. Guess things have not changed much since then.

At the National Library in SD they have every single article, book, magazine, etc published by Dominicans and descendants of Dominicans within and outside the DR. Also everything published in the DR by anyone from anywhere and everything published about the DR in other countries by foreigners.

Check there to see if they have copies.
