Cabarete
I just saw videos of the road block at Playa Dorado. Nobody is going in or out of Puerto Plata. Long lines of traffic in both directions.

We now have three threads going on Puerto Plata.

I heard from Dominican Today and febu that the PN is singling out the Medicare B recipients and giving them the rectal thermometer test.

There's a protest going on here east of Cabarete before you get to Camino del Sol. Seems that somebody thought it would be a good idea to isolate/quarantine a lot of people with Covid in Puerto Plata here in Cabarete. The locals are not happy.

2 or 3k as in 2 or 3 thousand? There was nowhere near that many people there - maybe 50 and they were wearing masks when I went by. They don't want Cabarete used as a dumping ground for Covid patients from Puerto Plata. How else are you going to protest it?

Ok, I thought you meant at the protest. Like I said, they don't want Hotel Covid in their neighborhood.

If you're living in the Callejon, there are likely a lot of infected people, but I really haven't heard of any deaths there so far(?).

I guess I'm an exception - I'm not freaking out over this. I'm wearing a mask, only go to the supermarket or farmacia when I need, to, and following other basic guidelines. I'd say my chances of getting Covid are about as cose to zero as you can get.

I don't go out at all to foreigner covid freakshow Janet's. I do calesthenics with my kids on the roof and we get sun. I send my concho for everything. I am type 2 so I don't chance it. Kids by me intermingling all day. I don't want to be the next guest at the Hotel Wuhan

I don't think POP is under any containment, the city that is...... perhaps the region ?

2 guys i know travelled to and from POP today, separately. 1 in his car, 1 on his motorbike. And neither reported anything unusual on the main road Imbert-POP.

Furthermore 2 nieces of mine came from POP this morning, on a motorbike, and there again, nothing/nobody restricting travels.

If the people don't follow safety measures and move around freely then C-19 is keeps on multiplying. It will take much longer to get back to normal in this scenario

There is no 24 hour lockdown in effect here and those people have every right to protest the opening of the Kung Flu Inn in their neighborhood. There are more people closer together in Janet's every day than at that protest.

The "Everything" sites are blowing up with shocked and disgruntled expats with rights who probably should have been on a ferry flight in the first place.
Are the expats the only people with rights? The Dominicans also have them, correct? It sounds like the people on this thread, should be on a boat out.

This was posted by an expat on the Everything sites yesterday. Can you imagine being and expat, speaking three words of Spanish, feeling that you're a special gringo and Mami and your motoconcho are not ripping you 10 and 50 pesos at a time, buying ecoli contaminated dulce de mani from the haitian lady on the beach, not knowing where to buy a cell phone, and then criticizing others of the same.

That's a racist comment. El Peregrino cast the coronavirus to the sea. No more coronavirus in the DR. God bless El Peregrino.
