Back when I lived on Avenida España...sometimes parties would form in the parking lots.
After 10 PM the agency in charge of noise complaints would often break up those parties.
But I was too far away to see if there were any seizures or arrests.

Most of the loud noise/music problems are not in the downtown city area.
Agreed
It's the outer areas that unemployed loser aspiring D,Js ply their trade.
Disagree.
My experience of actually living here in the 🇩🇴 has been there is noise in both populated and unpopulated areas.

But I am not here to complain.
I simply "go where I am treated best".
There is something to say for renting in an area first before you buy.
Of course you can lock yourself away behind gates in a gringo enclave and avoid all the things you find culturally irritating.

1. Enclaves with gates do not stop sound.
2. For every "gated Gringo enclave" there are dozens of "gated Dominican enclaves". There are probably hundreds of them in SD alone.

Of course not.
But does anyone here complaining about sound live in one currently❓

Relevance❓

It could be considered a gated enclave.
Mostly Dominicans when I lived there.
Consisted of three buildings.
10 Stories
Lived on the seventh floor.
I heard a lot complaints.
None about outside noise.
And I didn't make any complaints.
Great sea view. 🌊

I used to live in Residencial Antares close to Ave. España back in the eighties. Once the carwash with it's "live shows" opened in front of the Residencial, it was time for me to move.
Even back then Ave. España could get pretty loud at times.

Indeed, and they are just as safe and secure as the "gringo" enclaves if not more so. They have the contacts to stifle some douche wearing a New York Yankees jersey with gold chains playing music all night from the open trunk of his car.

Which makes my point:
3. 🇩🇴 are the source of the noise
2. 🇩🇴 will solve the problem
1. 🇩🇴 Gringos shut the **** up or go home...the 🇩🇴s got this.

I've driven by some of these "revivals" they have here and, WOW, are they ever loud. Even regular service in some of these really small churches can be extremely loud.

People must really be tired of the loud noise issues in this country. The government is working with Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University along with local residents to create a nationwide map to identify and pacify repeat offenders.

"The project aims to identify hot spots, collect evidence of environmental violations, and guide future decision-making based on data collected by ordinary citizens and analyzed by specialists."

If they don't like it they should leave.

Oh wait, these are Dominicans complaining about high noise levels.

Never mind.

Well I had a bar in front of me, an upscale place, that started to turn its music up too high. I put in a complaint on Denuncias Virtual and now they still have the parties but the music is way down. Someone clearly had a word with them. So I think complaining can work.

Let's be honest, it's far less lawless in DR now than it was 10 years ago.

Saw the clearly marked "Policia de Ruidos" truck stopping a Haitian this morning and asking for his papeles, which he had. But it was obvious he was not making noise as he was just walking to his job. Will the government stop the propina shakedowns ?
