OOh I just read the title quickly and saw "National meringue day" and thought "how strange I've never actually eaten a meringue in Dominican Republic and now there's a national day for them". And then I realised it was about the dance. (Slowly going completely barking mad here)
Perfect, domino and rum Sundays we just add on merengue to the weekly rotation!
It's almost certainly another public holiday where everyone decides to work and then insists on being paid double. People who hardly ever work always rock up on those double-pay holidays, strange.
