There are allegations of prostitution and other irregularities taking place in Santana Barber Shop (there are several in Santo Domingo, Santiago and Sosúa, as mentioned by Nuria.) As can be seen in the video, as customers (men) get a haircut, several women have sensual dances near them. After the haircut the men are able to dance with one of the women and they expect a tip. The allegations also include that the business is registered as one that sells beauty products, etc but nothing about offering "peculiar" services such as women dancing while a man is getting a haircut.

I always wondered how that guy wasn't arrested for pimping. He brings those girls to Sosua for private parties (rented villas in Casa Linda...) and they "come to dance" but it never ends with just dancing. Even the girls admitted in one interview that they make a lot of money doing private parties in Sosua, and the guy takes his cut.

Nuria needs to get a life !!!!!
Really ???? who cares !!! ???? Nobody forces the "lady's" to work their and everybody seems to be happy so what is the problem !?.
And the Employees are riding on the "Victim Wave". Making in one day what somebody working in a Store doesn't make in a week and than playing the abused victim card. I'm so tired of this BS.
Nuria is a big hipocrite. Why isn't she reporting anything about big Banks and the way they cheat their clients with 37% Loans or Car Dearlers that only give 2 years warranty on a new car even if the manufacturer sometimes gives 5 years !? and te list goes on and on.........on.
It's easier to attack the small ones right and get celebrated as the saviour of the poor inocent abused girls !

100% agree with you. If she really care that much, she should investigate about all the corruption on the Haitian/Dominican border. She is a joke

There are additional allegations that some of the women are underage and that is illegal. Plus, while prostitution in itself isn't illegal as long the women do it out of their own will, everything happens outside the business and all the proceeds she makes from that goes to her directly and only; there are allegations that they are in fact working for him and have to give him part of the earnings. In addition, many ex-employees say they were in some activities and never paid since he took all the money. That is illegal too in addition to theft and slavery.

With that said, I'm still amazed any business owner gives interviews to Nuria, whether their business is doing something wrong or not. It's widely known that if you see that blonde walking into your business, nothing good will come out of it. Her and Alicia Ortega causes many people to have blood pressure spikes. lol

She is a joke

Ahem. Her father was murdered for exposing corruption, she took over where he left off. She is completely fearless in some of the things she has exposed and from what I am told she has to have vast amounts of security as so many people are trying to kill her. Maybe this particular report is a bit of a nothing, but generally she is one of the few who have stood up against corruption in this country. Along with women like Miriam German and Yeni Berenice, it's hard not to respect these women who are genuinely forces for good. Definitely not a joke. And she also looks absolutely amazing for a woman of 63. In my opinion.

Well if she looks amazing at 63 that's enough credentials for me. If she was an old hag I would discount her credibility.
Recently there was an issue with a Venezuelan doctor working in SD which Nuria says is not a real doctor. On the first part, what Nuria claimed sounded very convincing, but a few days later another Venezuelan living in SD (journalist by profession) investigated the case of the Venezuelan doctor and it turns out she is a doctor that graduated from the Venezuelan university that she said and is registered in Venezuela with having that title. He also said other things including that journalists should always tell the truth. Then a few days later another episode of Nuria further sunk the Venezuelan doctor's reputation by claiming, among other things, that her further investigation revealed that the Venezuelan doctor had a university degree from Venezuela in marketing rather then medicine among other things. I don't know what followed after that.

Here is the Venezuelan guy that investigated and found that she is registered as a doctor in Venezuela, graduated from the Venezuelan university she said. At a certain poibt he show that.

Here is the rebuttal of Nuria.

She isn't allowed to practice medicine in the DR because all professionals need an exequatur which is emitted by the MESCYT. Until that is not acquired, no one can practice their profession in the DR. But the series of the Nuria show was about false titles, that means people that didn't graduated from any university and were working as professionals of such type in the DR with diplomas as "evidence" that were not actual diplomas. You can't get a legitimate exequator from the MESCYT by submitting false diplomas or even copies, they must be originals.

It leaves one wondering what happened here, at least concerning the legitimacy of her university diploma. Everything else presented by Nuria seems to be correct.

There was the case of Elizabeth Silverio from Antigua & Barbuda in the Lesser Antilles that practiced as a professional in the DR, yet everything about her claims and "degrees" were fake. One of the universities Elizabeth Silverio claim she graduated from is in Florida and when Nuria contacted that uni, they confirm that not only Elizabeth Silverio isn't graduated from there, but they never had her as a student. lol That is slightly different from the Venezuelan doctor as her diploma is legitimate even if she doesn't have the exequatur to practice in the DR.

As for doctors..... from today's news

==================================

The Ministry of Superior Education (Mescyt) announced the mandatory medical recertification of physicians in the Dominican Republic. Superior Education Minister Franklin García Fermín said the process seeks to safeguard the quality and safety of medical procedures. TV investigative journalist Nuria Piera has presented cases of persons without the qualifications posing as medical doctors.

The National Council for Medical Recertification (Conarem) undertaking the endeavor “to guarantee the quality of medical services and eradicate the informal practice of medicine at the national level.”

Superior Education Minister Franklin García Fermín, Public Health Minister Daniel Rivera were present for the public announcement.

To be recertified, the practicing physicians need tocomplete a number of hours in academic activities, taking an exam or through merits, during long years of professional practice.

The program has the backing of the Dominican Medical Association (CMD)...

Some people may not like her, but she definitely has no fear going up against anyone. Got to give her credit for exposing what she does. I met her at the airport a few years ago. I found her to be very nice.

In general I think she does a good job. Just felt of all the topics she can report on this one fell at the bottom of the list.
Was it her or Alicia Ortega's father who was the slain journalist during the Balaguer years?
