You should come visit first. Bob K

If I were you, I would not even plan a permanent move, but would go to both countries and live there for a while, then make your choice.

I would agree on the option to spend a time there before you make a final decision! Check at least one of the places for a time of minimum 6 months, perfect would be to check both. Then make your decision.

Come down for 6-12 months. Don't buy till your sure.

The best thing to do would be to visit both countries and then make up your mind.

All good sensible advice which would be the same as that given any potential relocator. To which the OP responds:

d/r in oct just for a day on a cruise. never panama. We can't live at either for 6 mos or so, don't have the $$/. we have to sell our home here and all items to move anywhere. so this move is a "no turning back" move.

Been here for one day and not in a position to do a 'trial run'.

Can I say to any other new poster thinking of asking a similar question, there are very good reasons why people give the advice they do. If you are going to come back & say 'can't do that', probably better not to ask your question in the first place. Had this OP done her homework she would have already read what the responses would be because they have been made many times over.

Relocators, it helps if you are prepared to WORK at it (viz. read, study, ponder then visit). Only YOU can do this work, & it is work. If you expect the work level made less by some 30 second sound bites on a message board, you are in for quite a surprise when you get here. :cheeky:

Frank & Cobra, don't allow 'Panama's gain' to put a rift between you. Not worth it.

So you trying to say that the more posts one has also means that he has more knowledge?
From the perspective of a newbie, and generally speaking, yes.

Tenure does matter, as do the quality of the posts. You don't get a bunch of posts accrued without paying attention.

Look at the senior members as ranked by the # of posts. Very, very solid folks, Frank.

So, Frank, you mean that my opinion is not good because I had not spent the past three years glued to my computer posting on DR1?

No point in getting into this. The OP was given good advice by all concerned.

Quantity does not always mean quality, says she, with 8000+ posts. :D
