Phrases are one thing. How about words hat have changed their spelling over the last half a century? Remember when Catalog was spelled catalogue? A sister in law posted 20 of them on FaceBook a while back. That is the only one that sticks in my craw!

In the case of catalogue/catalog: it's very specific. "Catalog" is used when books are entered into a library's record or when you used to buy something from Sears & Roebuck. "Catalogue" refers specifically to the publication accompanying an exhibition in a museum.
